Bodybuilding Committee

The Bodybuilding committee aims to be a living representation of God’s love through providing hands-on service to those in need in our local community, as well as providing a spiritual “home” at Saint Mark’s for new friends made through service

We realize that we may be the only embodiment of Jesus Christ some people ever see, and we believe that by freely serving others, we are living out what our Lord has called us to do. To quote John, “By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

We are always looking for ways to reach out locally within the South Irving community and focus on projects that require hands-on participation.

Projects supported include the following:

Captain Hope’s Kids

Captain Hope’s Kids seeks to meet the critical needs of homeless children. This organization provides critical supplies to children in homeless shelters and programs (i.e.: diapers, wipes, formula, baby food, school supplies, underwear, socks, school uniforms, etc.). Saint Mark’s Bodybuilding participants recently took part in Captain Hope’s Tools for School Drive benefiting homeless school children in the Dallas area. Saint Mark’s also hosts the Fall Festival for Captain Hope’s Kids. This event provides children living in local homeless shelters with an afternoon of fun and games in a carnival setting.

Brighter Tomorrows

Founded in 1989, Brighter Tomorrows is one of the largest domestic violence agencies in Dallas County. Their mission is to empower survivors of domestic and sexual violence by providing emergency shelter and transitional housing, as well as counseling, legal advocacy, and community education services. Brighter Tomorrows relies on the dedication of hard-working volunteers to help operate their shelter and assist with programs. Saint Mark’s Bodybuilding participants recently renovated and furnished an entire apartment unit at one of the Brighter Tomorrows emergency shelters. This work provided a resident family with a safe, clean home from which to start rebuilding their lives.
